Exploring Cisco’s Cloud Networking Evolution through Key Portfolio Updates

With the aim of revolutionising cloud networking, Cisco is introducing upgrades to its networking and security portfolios. The tech giant’s latest efforts are focused on critical IT objectives such as enhancing security, automation, user experience, and the development of AI-powered applications. Their goal is to offer customers an integrated, hassle-free solution for managing and securing networks.

The intention behind these product enhancements is to establish Cisco as a thought leader in creating a secure, AI-powered, and user-friendly network management platform.

“Cisco is uniquely placed as a market leader in both networking and security, with insight into more than a billion endpoints, enabling us to create an AI-driven, secure, and straightforward networking management platform, Cisco Networking Cloud,” said Jonathan Davidson, EVP and GM at Cisco Networking. Cisco has the superior data for AI-driven intelligence, whether for autonomous operations or a seamless user experience. The best outcome is derived from the best data.”

Juan Vela, the Vice President of Customer Solutions Marketing at Cisco, highlighted the breadth of the company’s strategy, emphasising their comprehensive market approach and their ability to utiltise their leading security portfolio for native integrations. Furthermore, beyond the networks directly controlled by their clients, Cisco can offer extensive visibility with ThousandEyes.

Cisco’s strategy is heavily dependent on integrating their networking and security offerings. This approach aims to eliminate the gap between networking and security teams within the Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) structure. A prime example of this convergence is the new Cisco Catalyst SD-WAN, now combined with Cisco Secure Access, Cisco’s Secure Service Edge (SSE) solution. This integration simplifies network administration and security across many locations using a single panel. This allows for the swift creation of scalable, secure SASE architectures and eliminates the requirement for additional devices.

As part of its journey to provide a unified portfolio experience, Cisco has enhanced its network management systems and launched a novel cloud monitoring tool for Catalyst wireless switches. This tool empowers users to oversee a segment of Catalyst wireless appliances directly from the Meraki dashboard, providing them a complete cloud-managed overview of their access networks. It supports most Catalyst WIFI 5 Wave 2, WIFI 6, and WIFI 6E access points, as well as the Catalyst 9800 Wireless Controllers.

Cisco has also added the Catalyst 9300-M switches to its hardware innovations. These are designed for native management from the Meraki dashboard. This development showcases Cisco’s commitment to cloud innovation and is a significant step towards comprehensive cloud management for the Catalyst switching line. Furthermore, Cisco has introduced UCS X-Series Direct – a product tailored for edge applications requiring high computational power and connectivity. This expands the UCS X-Series range. The new architecture represents a self-sufficient system with integrated Fabric Interconnects for seamless administration using Cisco Intersight or UCS Manager. It supports a multitude of intensive applications with minimal hardware.

New AI Validated Designs have just been launched by Cisco, as part of their innovative plan to aid customers in establishing high-performance computing and data center networking fabrics. These designs bring about automation and visibility that suit AI-determined corporate situations, to lessen risks and push the adoption of AI/ML. Furthering this, they provide solutions that have been confirmed across a multitude of use cases.

With the introduction of these calculated advancements and launches, Cisco exhibits its devotion towards leading the movement of cloud networking. These solutions not only meet the current technical needs but pave the way for possible future progresses. By concentrating their work on integrating networking and security and their pledge in enhancing user experience via AI and cloud monitoring tools, it appears Cisco is once more positioning itself at the helm of the industry, ready to aid its worldwide community of developers and corporations in tackling the issues of digital transformation.
