Unveiling Extreme’s AI Technology: A Cutting-Edge Solution for Enterprise Network Issues

Extreme Networks is actively enhancing its AI features through introducing a pioneering technology to their overall cloud network management system. The objective of this upgrade is to provide their customers with rapid, comprehensive responses to their network queries. This includes in-depth information on network inconsistencies, configurations, and documentation that will assist customers in proactively identifying and resolving network issues.

In the recent Extreme Connect customer event, the company showcased Extreme AI Expert. They depicted this as a Generative AI-built technology that allows customers to pose natural language queries about network issues like “display all network anomalies”. Based on these, the system will produce specific charts and additional details about the network, identify potential problems, and provide solutions for addressing these abnormalities. These points were presented by Nabil Bukhari, the Chief Product and Technology Officer at Extreme Networks, to the audience.

Bukhari said, “Our Web site contains 700,000 pages of documentation, so no matter how sophisticated your search capabilities are, it’s going to take some time to sift through that data to find answers. So we simplified that task by introducing a system where a question can be asked and the system will reciprocate with a custom-made response.”

For instance, a client might have lost track of how to set up a secure Wi Fi network, or you perhaps have a new member in the team that you want to quickly integrate and train, mentioned Bukhari.

“So, rather than scouring through thousands of pages, you just question the system on how to set up a secure Wi-Fi network? The system will customise a reply, specific to your query. Beyond that, it is vital that not only do we affirm the answer, but we also highlight the information that was employed to formulate that response. That information is continually up-to-date. So, we ensure that we incorporate the latest documentation and it provides you a reference that you can effortlessly follow up and confirm that the trust is crucial for knowing the origin of the generation,” pronounced Bukhari.

The AI Expert collects data from a blend of Extreme’s public repository, knowledge repository and Global Technical Assistance Centre (GTAC) papers, along with customer network specifics.

Extracting and amalgamating data from apps and gadgets across the network to formulate intelligence on performance and experience, announced by Extreme.

“Extreme AI Expert will process enterprise data to deliver insights, automate functions and send alerts when it detects abnormalities such as network excess, degradation or Wi-Fi dead zones, amongst other issues,” announced Extreme.

At its core, the system proposes preventative strategies, offers advice and recommends network improvements based on business KPIs. Extreme AI Expert conjures suggestions to troubleshoot, fix issues or proactively tackle concerns, revealed Extreme.

AI Expert currently stands as a tech preview and Extreme anticipates to kickstart integrating the technology  — potentially in its ExtremeCloud IQ wireless and wired network-management solution as well as its CoPilot AI-based management instrument.

Extreme joins a host of other vendors, such as Cisco, Fortinet and HPE Aruba that have recently launched AI-based assistants designed to assist enterprise clients better evaluate security circumstances, prevent errors and automate intricate tasks.

Cisco has introduced an AI Security Assistant which is set to be integrated into the firm’s cloud-based Firewall Management Center as well as the Cisco Defense Orchestrator services. The Firewall Management Center by Cisco is a centralized system enabling the configuration, monitoring, troubleshooting, and control of Cisco Firepower Next-Generation Firewalls. The orchestrator platform, meanwhile, provides users with the capability of centrally managing, controlling, and automating security policies over multiple cloud-native security systems.

Similarly, Fortinet is developing an AI-powered assistant to aid clients in combating cybersecurity threats.

The objective of Fortinet Advisor is to assist security operations teams in making data-driven decisions, promptly responding to threats, and simplifying both everyday and complex tasks. This AI-driven assistant will be included in Fortinet’s FortiSIEM security information and event management platform, and the FortiSOAR security orchestration, automation, and response product.

Alongside these vendors, HPE Aruba is also rolling out genAI-enabled search tools in its management platform to enable clients to receive detailed responses to queries concerning network configurations, documentation, and other IT operational challenges.

The company is incorporating multiple HPE-trained large language models (LLM) into the search tools that are part of HPE Aruba Networking Central, its core cloud-based management and orchestration platform for wired and wireless networks spanning campus, branch and data center sites.
