The definitive edition is developed by the original team behind Stronghold Crusader and promises to deliver new content along with improved graphics and features requested by players to enhance gameplay quality. Firefly Studios head Nick Tannahill emphasized their commitment to exceeding player expectations, stating, "This is their favorite game, and it deserves to be remastered in all its pre-rendered isometric glory, but with plenty of extra bells and whistles!"
Some of the exciting features in Stronghold Crusader: Definitive Edition include:
- Four new AI opponents
- Eight Bedouin warrior units
- Two historical campaigns designed to teach players military command
- Four "Sands of Time" skirmish trails to hone player skills
- One new co-op skirmish trail
- Expanded map size with numerous new environments
- Enhanced graphics and audio
- Custom gameplay settings
Tannahill credited the game’s dedicated fanbase for the development of this definitive edition, noting, "We would not be doing this were it not for those still engaged in multiplayer, designing maps, and creating mods, like the fantastic Unofficial Crusader Patch."
Stronghold Crusader: Definitive Edition is set to launch on July 15 and will be available to wishlist on Steam.
