Publisher 2K and developer Hangar 13 have seemingly confirmed that Mafia: The Old Country is set to launch on August 8 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. This information was noted in a Steam blog post that discussed their plans for PAX East 2025. While the post has since been amended to remove the date, Gematsu captured a screenshot before it was taken down.
A panel at PAX East 2025, scheduled for May 8 at 11 AM PT / 2 PM ET, will feature a new gameplay trailer and opportunities to meet key developers, including studio president Nick Baynes, game director Alex Cox, and cinematic director Tomas Hrebicek. It is expected that the official release date will be announced during this panel.
Mafia: The Old Country serves as a prequel to the original game, set in early 1900s Sicily. The narrative unfolds in the fictional town of San Celeste, a location referenced in Mafia II and mentioned in Mafia: Definitive Edition. The game aims for cultural authenticity, with audio-dubbing available in several languages, including English, French, German, Spanish, Czech, Russian, and Sicilian.
