New World: Aeternum Announces End of New Content Post-Season 10

Amazon has decided to discontinue new content for the game New World: Aeternum following the launch of its latest update, Season 10: Nighthaven. This decision comes after Amazon’s gaming division experienced significant layoffs, impacting the team behind the popular MMORPG.

Despite the absence of future seasons or downloadable content (DLC), the game will remain online through 2026, offering players the ability to revisit the world of Aeternum. While some ongoing features such as world bosses, bonus weeks, and limited seasonal events will continue, major holiday events have been canceled.

The developer, Amazon Games Orange County, has made the Nighthaven update available for free as a gesture of gratitude to the game’s community. They also confirmed that Rise of the Angry Earth would be free for all PC players, aiming to ensure that everyone can access both content releases.

Although New World will still be accessible via PlayStation Plus for subscribers, the exact timeline for this arrangement remains uncertain. The development team will focus on ongoing bug fixes and quality-of-life enhancements but has promised to provide at least six months’ notice before any changes that might affect players’ ability to access the game.
