Palo Alto Networks has announced its acquisition of Console, a move aimed at enhancing the agentic capabilities of its Cortex security operations platform. This acquisition is part of a broader strategy to bolster its security offerings by leveraging Console’s AI-native technology for IT service management and automation.
With Console’s technology, which interfaces with a customer’s identity systems, SaaS applications, and various security tools, Palo Alto aims to allow its security teams to respond to alerts and automate actions more efficiently across network environments. Console’s AI can comprehend requests, collect relevant context, execute workflows, and document outcomes.
Andrei Serban, CEO and co-founder of Console, shared that the company’s design philosophy centers around enabling users to articulate operational goals while the technology manages the underlying complexities. He emphasized how agents can significantly reduce overhead and enhance operations.
Palo Alto Networks’ CEO, Nikesh Arora, emphasized that by integrating Console, users can interact with data and create automated workflows using natural language. This transition to a model where software acts as an agent aims to deliver autonomous security solutions throughout enterprises.
The financial terms of the Console acquisition have not been disclosed. This acquisition follows recent significant purchases by Palo Alto, including a $3.35 billion deal for the cloud observability platform Chronosphere and a $25 billion acquisition of CyberArk earlier this year. Additionally, the company acquired the endpoint security startup Koi and the AI agent security firm Portkey, hinting at a robust expansion strategy in the realm of cybersecurity.
