Claiming Your Share: A Guide to Apple’s $250 Million Siri Settlement

In May, Apple reached a settlement of $250 million in response to a class action lawsuit claiming the company exaggerated the capabilities of its Siri AI features. The lawsuit primarily focused on the long-delayed enhancements to Apple’s voice assistant.

Owners of newer iPhones can now enjoy an updated Siri AI experience, accessible through iOS 27. Despite this upgrade, consumers are eligible for compensation for prior purchases. This settlement entitles qualifying customers in the U.S., who bought certain models of the iPhone 15 or iPhone 16 between June 10, 2024, and March 29, 2025, to claim up to $95 for each device purchased from Apple.

The core of the lawsuit stemmed from consumers being misled about the Siri features promised at the time of sale. Individuals filing a claim must indicate that they expected to receive the enhanced Siri capabilities, which were not delivered as advertised. Apple, while agreeing to the settlement, maintains that it did not admit to any wrongdoing, stating it aims to focus on innovative product and service delivery.

To make a claim, you can visit the claims website at smartphoneaisettlement.com and click on File A Claim. You do not need to have a Claim ID or PIN to begin. However, you will need your iPhone’s serial number or Apple Account ID to complete the claim process.

If you’re unsure of how to locate your serial number, you can find it in the Settings app under General and then About. The number appears at the top of the screen.

Claimants can choose their preferred method to receive the settlement money, including PayPal, Venmo, bank transfer, or a paper check. For those with multiple devices eligible for a claim, each device will require a separate submission. The deadline for claims is December 21.
