At HPE’s recent Networking Investor Day, executive Rami Rahim highlighted the remarkable transformation occurring within data centers. The company announced optimistic growth forecasts for its networking segments, specifically targeting data center, campus, and branch networking. Following their record-breaking third quarter, HPE projected that cumulative AI network orders for fiscal 2026 will exceed $3 billion, surpassing earlier estimates. Additionally, revenue from networking is expected to increase significantly in fiscal 2027, with projections of high teen to low 20 percent growth rates. For data center networking, a forecasted revenue growth rate of around 50% CAGR is expected through fiscal 2029.
Rahim emphasized that the landscape of data center infrastructure is evolving rapidly due to artificial intelligence. “The pace of change in the data center is, quite frankly, extraordinary,” he noted. He explained that investing heavily in GPUs is futile if the network cannot accommodate the necessary data traffic and performance. This shift has elevated networking’s strategic importance within AI infrastructure.
HPE’s new endeavors include integrating standardized Ethernet into the next-level data center architecture, vastly expanding its total addressable market (TAM). Rahim discussed the immense capacity requirements for data centers, indicating that the need for scalability far exceeds previous norms.
A significant development from HPE is its partnership with AMD to deliver a highly integrated Helios AI rack solution, complete with specialized networking capabilities. The collaboration aims to promote a large-scale, Ethernet-focused package supported by Juniper Networks’ advanced switching technology.
In addition to innovative products, traditional routing solutions are gaining importance as AI infrastructures expand beyond single data centers. Customers now require robust connections across various locations for high bandwidth, lower latency, and increased power efficiency. HPE’s routing revenue is projected to grow steadily in response to this demand.
During the event, industry experts expressed enthusiasm for HPE’s strategy, noting its diverse networking approach targeting various client types, from traditional enterprise settings to hyperscalers. Analysts forecast substantial market share growth across key segments, and expansion in service offerings is expected to fortify customer relationships and generate recurring revenue.
Highlighting other important facets from the conference, Rahim pointed to a modernization cycle in the campus and branch markets, driven by a forthcoming Wi-Fi 7 refresh. Furthermore, HPE plans to consolidate the Juniper and Aruba partner programs into a single unified initiative, enhancing cross-selling opportunities.
As HPE continues to develop its strategic positioning in the networking sector, Rahim asserted the necessity for organizations to consider the advantages of a streamlined, all-in-one approach to AI-native networking solutions.
