Battlefield 6: Embracing the Classic Class System for a Fresh Experience

Battlefield 6 is set to bring back the iconic class system that fans have been eager to see return after its overhaul in Battlefield 2042. During the recent multiplayer reveal, developers acknowledged the community’s feedback, stating, "We heard you loud and clear: You want the class system back." The game will reinstate four primary classes: assault, engineer, support, and recon.

Each class will possess a unique set of weapons, gadgets, and traits, contributing to more defined roles within gameplay. For instance, the assault class will now have access to flashbangs and grenade launchers, along with an adrenaline shot to increase resistance to stunning effects and enhance sprint speed. Additionally, assault players can wield a second primary weapon.

The engineer class retains its traditional function of deploying rockets and mines while being the only class capable of repairing friendly vehicles, streamlining its abilities. Support class players can continue healing and resupplying allies, but they will also gain the ability to deploy cover. Meanwhile, the recon class, ideal for stealthy gameplay, will now include drones for enemy marking and a laser designator to assist in targeting, as well as exclusive access to C4 for vehicle destruction.

These changes aim to revert some of the complications introduced in Battlefield 2042, which implemented specialists and relaxed class-based gameplay. While Battlefield 6 will still allow some weapon sharing among classes, it will now incorporate class proficiency that unlocks unique traits when players use their signature weapons effectively together.

Gamers eager to try out these revamped class dynamics won’t have long to wait. An open beta is scheduled for multiple weekends in August, with the full game release set for October 10, available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
