Remote Trades have been introduced in Pokémon Go, allowing players to exchange Pokémon with others regardless of their location. This feature marks an evolution in trading, previously restricted to in-person interactions, now enabling trades with players worldwide. However, there’s a catch – players must attain a new friendship level called Forever Friends to access this feature.
What Is Remote Trading?
Remote Trades enable players to exchange Pokémon from anywhere. This innovation is particularly beneficial for acquiring region-exclusive Pokémon like Farfetch’d and Mr. Mime. To initiate a Remote Trade, players must tag Pokémon available for trade in their collections. Crucially, only players recognized as Forever Friends can engage in these trades, necessitating a higher friendship level than the Best Friends status.
How To Become Forever Friends
To achieve Forever Friends status, players must earn friendship points through various in-game activities. These include sending and opening gifts, trading Pokémon, and battling together. Players can also complete weekly challenges to enable additional friendship points. Only one friendship point can be earned daily with the same player.
How To Trade Remotely
After establishing Forever Friends status, players can start trading remotely. The process involves marking Pokémon for trade using a specific tag. Each player selects up to three desired Pokémon to facilitate the trade. Once a trade is completed, only one Remote Trade can be done at a time with a friend before accumulating more friendship points for another.
Ineligible Pokémon for Remote Trading
Certain Pokémon cannot be traded remotely, including:
- Pokémon caught in the last 30 days
- Previously traded Pokémon
- Shadow Pokémon
- Mythical Pokémon
- Pokémon currently defending gyms or Power Spots
- Buddy Pokémon
- Pokémon that are actively Mega-Evolved
- Fused Pokémon
- Crowned Sword Zacian and Crowned Shield Zamazenta
- Pokémon in Pokémon Playgrounds
While Remote Trades broaden trading possibilities, they do not count towards the daily Special Trade limit.
For those immersed in the mobile game, Remote Trades add a new layer of engagement during this season’s Precious Paths, offering various events and opportunities for players.
