8BitDo is set to release a reimagined version of its Nintendo 64 controller on July 30, 2025. This wireless Bluetooth controller, designed primarily for the Analogue 3D console, is also compatible with PC, Nintendo Switch, and Android devices.
The 8BitDo 64 Bluetooth Controller offers a modern take on the classic N64 layout, featuring a comfortable ergonomic design that emulates the original’s control scheme. The joystick has been repositioned for easier access, incorporating a Hall Effect design that minimizes the risk of stick drift. Its surface mimics the original N64 control stick with padded ridges, enhancing comfort during gameplay.
The controller retains the unique button configuration of the original, with large A/B buttons, C buttons, and redesigned shoulder and trigger buttons. Notably, it allows users to remap controls via the 8BitDo Ultimate Software app, making it adaptable for various gaming experiences. While it boasts built-in rumble motors, vibration support is exclusive to the Analogue 3D and Switch platforms.
The black version of the controller may have delayed availability, with some estimates suggesting an arrival date of August 11. In addition to the 8BitDo 64, the company plans to launch the Pro 3 Bluetooth Gamepad on August 12, which is compatible with multiple platforms including the Nintendo Switch and PC.
The Analogue 3D, which is launching soon, is a premium console that offers hardware-accurate emulation of original N64 cartridges in 4K and features multiple controller ports. However, it does not come with a controller, making the 8BitDo 64 a fitting choice.
