Unveiling Metal Gear Delta: Snake Eater’s Secret Mode Developed by Platinum Games

Platinum Games, known for its exceptional action games like Bayonetta and Nier: Automata, is involved in the development of Konami’s upcoming Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater. They are specifically revamping an Easter egg from the original game called Snake’s Nightmare, a hidden sequence that fans are excited to see return.

In Snake’s Nightmare, players can access a third-person action segment by saving the game at a point where Snake is imprisoned. Upon reloading the save, players find themselves in a surreal otherworld filled with a mysterious figure wielding hook-swords, battling demons in a graveyard setting.

This minigame, initially conceived by Shuyo Murata, has been missing from most re-releases of Metal Gear Solid 3 since its original debut on the PlayStation 2. However, for the remake, Konami has partnered with Platinum to faithfully recreate this hidden mode, enhancing the experience for both new and returning players. Early reviews highlight how skillfully Platinum’s design expertise is evident in the gameplay, making it engaging and refined.

GameSpot recently reviewed Metal Gear Solid Delta and rated it a 9/10, praising it as a successful modernization of the iconic classic, showcasing stunning new visuals that breathe fresh life into the original story.
