Release Details

Announced during the Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase, Octopath Traveler 0 will be readily available during the holiday season, providing players ample opportunity to immerse themselves in the game.

Players can preorder Octopath Traveler 0 in both standard and digital deluxe editions. The standard edition is priced at $49.99, available both physically and digitally. The digital deluxe edition, at $59.99, includes extra bonuses such as an art book and starting skills. For diehard fans, a Collector’s Edition featuring additional physical items is available exclusively through the Square Enix Online Store for $229.99. All preorders come with the "Travel Provisions" item set, which contains various in-game resources.

Platforms

Octopath Traveler 0 will be accessible on multiple platforms including Xbox Series, PlayStation 4 and 5, Switch, Switch 2, and PC.

Story and Setting

The game is set in the familiar world of Orsterra, as seen in the earlier entries of the series. The narrative kicks off during the Day of Reverence ceremony in Wishvale, where your character witnesses the city’s destruction and embarks on a personal journey of rebuilding and vengeance. The story will feature new characters alongside returning mechanics, boasting over 30 playable characters, each with unique abilities.

Gameplay Mechanics

Players can expect freeform exploration reminiscent of earlier titles, enabling them to interact with NPCs through various character-specific actions. A new mechanic, “Invite,” allows characters to recruit NPCs for town rebuilding.

Combat System

Continuing the series’ tradition, the combat system in Octopath Traveler 0 will utilize turn-based mechanics with an emphasis on exploiting enemy weaknesses. A notable change is the ability to control up to eight characters in battles, with options to switch between active and supportive roles during encounters.

New Features

New elements include a town-building mechanic vital for reconstructing Wishvale and an in-depth character creation system that allows for customization of appearance, skills, and initial attributes.

As anticipation builds for Octopath Traveler 0, fans are eager to dive into its intricate blend of storytelling, strategy, and rich, pixel-art aesthetics, promising an exhilarating adventure in December.
