Borderlands 4 for Switch 2: Release Delayed – What We Know So Far

Just ten days prior to its scheduled launch, Gearbox Software has announced the delay of Borderlands 4’s port for the Switch 2 to an undisclosed future date. Initially set for release on October 3, the decision was made due to the need for additional development time to enhance the game’s overall quality.

In a statement shared on social media, Gearbox expressed their commitment to delivering the best possible experience, acknowledging that the additional polish is essential for meeting player expectations. They also indicated that the delay aims to align the release with the introduction of cross saves, which is a highly anticipated feature for fans.

As part of the delay notification, Gearbox confirmed that all pre-orders for Borderlands 4 on the Switch 2 will be canceled according to Nintendo’s policy. Players can request refunds immediately or expect automatic refunds to be processed by September 26.

The release of Borderlands 4 earlier this month on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5 received generally positive reviews, though some PC players have voiced concerns regarding performance and optimizations on platforms like Steam. CEO Randy Pitchford has responded to these criticisms, maintaining confidence in the game’s performance while also providing tips for improving gameplay experiences. A patch targeting PC stability issues has already been released, with further updates for console versions planned.

For ongoing updates on the new release timing for Borderlands 4 on Switch 2, players should keep an eye on announcements from Gearbox.
