Unveiling Overwatch 2 Season 19: Haunted Masquerade Offers Players Empowering New Masks

This week, Activision is rolling out Overwatch 2 Season 19, titled "Haunted Masquerade," a special Halloween event that promises fresh gameplay experiences. This season, players can don magical masks inspired by their favorite heroes, providing them with unique buffs and abilities. For instance, Tracer can wear a mask of Winston, and vice versa, allowing for exciting gameplay twists.

Alongside the new masks, the update introduces a Haunted Masquerade arcade mode and brings back the popular Halloween Terror 2025 event. In this mode, teams of four can join forces to defend the stronghold of Adlersbrunn against Dr. Junkenstein and his army of monstrous minions. Players will face waves of enemies and formidable bosses as they fight to protect the castle.

The iconic "Junkenstein’s Revenge" mode also returns, allowing heroes like Sojourn, Junker Queen, Kiriko, and Ashe to combat "exploding zombie omnics" and formidable foes such as Banshee Moira and Gargoyle Winston while exploring Adlersbrunn’s castle. Additionally, the "Wrath of the Bride" co-op fight makes a comeback, featuring new Mythic cosmetics and various collectibles.

This season introduces three new heroes—Hazard, Sojourn, and Torbjörn—and a fresh map called Busan (Control), alongside numerous item upgrades. A teaser in the launch trailer hints at an upcoming collaboration between Overwatch 2 and One-Punch Man.

The Haunted Masquerade season will run until December 9, and players can dive into a variety of new hero masks that significantly impact gameplay. Below are highlights of some of the mask abilities:

Tank Hero Masks

  • Orisa: Reduces knockback and debuff duration.
  • Reinhardt: Gains extra armor and melee damage.
  • Winston: Enables melee damage to knock enemies back.

Damage Hero Masks

  • Genji: Allows double jumping.
  • Mei: Boosts damage against nearby foes.
  • Reaper: Healing through damage dealt.

Support Hero Masks

  • Ana: Reduces incoming damage.

Overall, Overwatch 2’s Season 19 invites players to experience a thrilling Halloween adventure while gaining new strategies through the magical masks.
