Adobe recently unveiled significant advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) during its MAX conference in Los Angeles, with a focus on expanding AI capabilities in its creative applications. These updates highlight the company’s commitment to enhancing user creativity through AI integration.
Key Features in Adobe Firefly
Adobe’s standout application, Firefly, allows users to generate images and videos through advanced generative AI techniques. New features include the ability to create custom models tailored to specific characters and tones. With just six to twelve images, users can train the model, which is based on Adobe’s proprietary data ensuring safe commercial use. This feature is set to be released for individual customers by the year’s end.
Advancements in Image Generation
The newly launched Firefly Image Model 5 offers improvements, including a native resolution of 4 megapixels and enhanced prompt-based editing capabilities. Users can edit images by adjusting elements seamlessly, as demonstrated in a recent live demo that showcased how different components of a scene could be replaced or repositioned without artifacts.
New Generative Features
Two new features, Generate Soundtrack and Generate Speech, were also introduced. Generate Soundtrack analyzes uploaded videos to suggest tailored soundtracks based on the desired mood and genre. Meanwhile, Generate Speech marks Adobe’s first venture into text-to-speech functionality, supporting 15 languages and allowing users to add emotional tags for varied inflection.
Introduction of a Video Editor
Additionally, Adobe is launching a full-featured multi-track video editor within Firefly, allowing users to blend generated and captured content. The editor will be accessible through a waiting list, with no specific public release date announced yet.
Enhancements in Photoshop and Express
Adobe is also integrating a new AI assistant into Photoshop and Express, designed to guide users through tasks while allowing control over the final output. This assistant is already accessible in Express, while users interested in Photoshop will need to join a waiting list.
Future Plans: Project Moonlight and ChatGPT Integration
Looking ahead, Adobe is testing Project Moonlight, which aims to carry context across various Adobe applications, enhancing content generation. Furthermore, Adobe is exploring integration with OpenAI’s ChatGPT to allow users to create images and videos directly within the ChatGPT interface, providing an exciting glimpse into future applications of AI in creative processes.
