Mario Tennis Fever is set to launch on February 12, 2026, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch 2. This new addition marks the first Mario sports game for the platform and is priced at $70.
Unveiled during the Super Mario 40th Anniversary section of the Nintendo Direct on September 12, Mario Tennis Fever promises to bring exciting gameplay with features like local and online multiplayer for up to four players. Players can choose from 38 characters of the Mushroom Kingdom, engaging in matches that incorporate the unique twist of "Fever Rackets." These special rackets possess abilities such as freezing the court and shrinking opponents’ rackets.
An intriguing Adventure Mode will have players take on a narrative where Mario, Luigi, Peach, Wario, and Waluigi are transformed into babies by monsters on a mysterious island. The storyline will require Baby Mario and friends to enhance their tennis skills once more to escape.
In addition to the Adventure Mode, Mario Tennis Fever will also feature Trial Towers, Tournaments, Ranked Matches, Online Rooms, and a mode called Mix It Up, which will include Wonder Effects inspired by Super Mario Bros. Wonder.
Mario Tennis Fever is currently available for preorder at several major retailers, including Amazon, Walmart, Target, Best Buy, and GameStop.
In the realm of Mario sports games, Mario Tennis Fever follows 2018’s Mario Tennis Aces, being the first original Mario sports title designed specifically for the Nintendo Switch 2. Fans of the franchise can also enjoy backward compatibility, allowing for gameplay of Mario Tennis Aces, Mario Golf: Super Rush, and Mario Strikers: Battle League on the new console.
