Upscale AI has recently secured $190 million in Series A-1 extension funding, bringing its total funding to $500 million and valuing the company at $2 billion. The round was led by Premji Invest with participation from Nvidia, Salesforce Ventures, Seligman Ventures, and Temasek, among others. Since launching from stealth mode with a $100 million seed in September 2025, Upscale AI has positioned itself as a company specializing in AI networking, particularly for hyper-scalers and neoclouds.
The company has developed its Skyhammer switch silicon, designed to facilitate high-speed connections between GPUs and XPUs. This technology supports two primary networking frameworks: scale-up networking, which links GPUs and XPUs within clusters, and scale-out networking that connects multiple nodes.
In partnership with Nvidia, Upscale AI aims to refine connectivity within AI systems. They are creating AI-optimized networks that align with Nvidia’s Spectrum X Ethernet platform, enhancing the interconnectivity of GPU and XPU nodes in data centers. Products based on this collaboration are already in customer labs and slated for early market deployment later this year.
Upscale is also addressing AI token efficiency, essential for optimal utilization of AI infrastructure. The CEO, Rajiv Khemani, emphasizes the importance of developing networking solutions that can adapt dynamically to the evolving needs of AI workloads.
Khemani expressed optimism about the future, sharing expectations for product details on Skyhammer to be revealed later this year, coinciding with advancements in compatible GPU and XPU technologies.
