Five Nights at Freddy’s fans have multiple new book releases to look forward to in the coming weeks. A brand-new series of “interactive novels” kicks off on September 3 with Five Nights at Freddy’s: The Week Before. Volume 5 in the Fazbear Frights graphic novel collection also releases the same day. Perhaps the most exciting upcoming FNAF book is the box set collecting the Tales from the Pizzaplex horror-mystery novels. Five Nights at Freddy’s: Takes from the Pizzaplex Box Set Collection, the interactive novels, and the new Fazbear Frights graphic novel are available to order at Amazon. The books join an expansive lineup of novels and graphic novels co-authored by Five Nights at Freddy’s creator Scott Cawthon.
If there’s a FNAF fan on your shopping list this holiday, the Tales from the Pizzaplex anthology series could make for a great gift. Releasing November 12, this collection contains eight horror-mystery novels and a slipcase display box. Each novel is roughly 250 pages and is recommended for readers ages 12 and up. The novels were published between July 2022 and October 2023. All told, the series clocks in at 2,000 pages.
Amazon is currently accepting preorders for $88, which equates to $11 per book. With Amazon’s preorder price guarantee, you are assured of paying the lowest price posted between your order date and the release date. Your account will be charged only when your item is shipped.
Tales from the Pizzaplex Anthology Novel Series
If you enjoy FNAF-themed books, consider the Fazbear Frights, a series consisting of 12 novella-length horror stories. You can buy the first four books as a set for $22, the first eight for $36, or get all 12 books for $65.
The interactive series technically began with the release of a free ebook by Scholastic called VIP on August 3. Designated as “No. 0,” VIP is available for those interested in previewing the new Choose Your Own Adventure-style format before committing to the series.
Set to release on September 3 and offered at the discounted price of $9.74 (originally $13), Five Nights at Freddy’s: The Week Before unfolds prior to the original Five Nights at Freddy’s game. In this role, you act as the security guard at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, facing multiple nights of survival challenges against Freddy, Chica, Bonnie, and Foxy. The book offers over 25 different outcomes and includes an option for a higher difficulty level, enhancing each page-turn that could potentially be your last.
The upcoming interactive story, Five Nights at Freddy’s: Return to the Pit, available from December 24, places you in the role of Oswald. Through a time-travel mishap in a ball pit at Jeff’s Pizza to the year 1985, you inadvertently bring back a malevolent animatronic threat to the present, compelling you to devise an escape plan. With also 25 distinct conclusions and two levels of difficulty, this book offers a robust challenge.
Return to the Pit revisits the narrative of the first installment in the Fazbear Frights series and will resonate with those familiar with Five Nights at Freddy’s: Into the Pit, the classic-style adventure game recently developed by Mega Cat Studios.
For fans interested in visual adaptations, the Fazbear Frights graphic novel series extends with Volume 5 on September 3. Pre-orders are currently available for the paperback version ($11.24, previously $15) and hardcover edition ($25).
Like the video game that inspired them, these graphic novels explore themes like the consequences of desires, the complexities of youth, and encounters with sinister fast food mascots.
Below, we’ve included links to purchase all five hardcover volumes of the Fazbear Frights series. Some hardcover editions are priced similarly to their paperback counterparts, but each story is available in both formats.
Originally, Fazbear Frights began as a collection of novella-length tales. It’s not necessary to read these novellas to appreciate the graphic adaptations.
Fazbear Frights Novella Collections
A personal library dedicated to Five Nights at Freddy’s is incomplete without the original graphic novels that came out shortly after the game’s release a decade ago.
Ten years following a series of grim events at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, the trilogy unfolds as a group of old friends come together and venture into the long-abandoned restaurant. Upon finding access, they soon uncover that things are drastically different, and they immediately encounter trouble with the notorious animatronic mascots.
Fans have a choice between two box sets, each priced at approximately $25. The 2023 re-release might be the preferred choice for contemporary readers, but the 2018 edition, with its unique box art and included poster, may appeal to collectors.
Additionally, multiple books delving into the universe and characters of Five Nights at Freddy’s are also available, and these are listed further down.
The film adaptation of Five Nights at Freddy’s was launched on Blu-ray last December, but if you’re a collector of steelbook cases, you have the opportunity to reserve an exclusive 4K Blu-ray edition at Walmart for $30. The Five Nights at Freddy’s Limited Edition Steelbook will be available on October 8. This exclusive edition includes a 4K Blu-ray disc, a standard 1080p Blu-ray, and digital versions of the popular movie.
