Destiny 2: Heresy to Feature Reduced Voice Content Due to Ongoing Actors Strike

Bungie’s upcoming expansion for Destiny 2, titled Heresy, will be released without certain voice content due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA actors’ strike. Initially called for last summer, the strike aimed to address significant issues including AI protections. Although the union has successfully negotiated deals with several publishers, the strike continues.

As confirmed in a recent post on Bungie’s official site, the Heresy expansion will have specific scenes lacking spoken dialogue because agreements with voice actors remain unresolved. To ensure players can still follow the narrative, subtitles will be automatically enabled in these scenes. Additionally, any activities within Heresy that don’t include voiceovers will come with a warning screen before starting. However, Bungie’s update did not clarify whether the missing lines would be recorded once the strike concludes.

In response to the strike, voice actor Orchid expressed the actors’ need for a fair deal addressing their AI concerns, stressing that their livelihood is also at stake during this time.

Other games have felt the impact of the strike as well. Hideo Kojima reported that his upcoming projects, including OD and Physint, are similarly unable to record necessary dialogue due to the strike.

Heresy is scheduled to launch on February 4, featuring a return to the Dreadnaught, a new dungeon called Sundered Doctrine, and a tie-in with Star Wars that will introduce exclusive themed gear and accessories.
