Two physical editions of The Thing: Remastered are now available for preorder ahead of their release on June 25 for PS5 and Nintendo Switch. Following a digital launch in late 2024, this well-received restoration of the 2002 cult classic can be preordered at major retailers.
The game comes in two versions: the standard edition priced at $30 and a $50 Deluxe Edition that includes a steelbook case and several collectibles. The remaster enhances the original game with improved textures, animations, and quality-of-life features, offering PS5 players the option to enjoy it in 4K resolution at up to 120 frames per second.
The Thing: Remastered is a third-person survival shooter featuring 20 levels packed with monsters. Although praised for its gameplay improvements and updated visuals, it has received some criticism for its repetitive combat mechanics. The remaster is compared to other recent titles receiving similar treatment, such as Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1&2 Remastered and Tomb Raider I-III Remastered.
For those interested in a nostalgic experience, Amazon offers the original The Thing film on 4K Blu-ray, featuring commentary and extras, alongside various pricing options for the other related films.
