The standard battle royale mode in Fortnite remains the flagship experience, yet Epic Games has been continuously expanding its offerings with new gameplay modes, one of the most popular being the respawn-focused Reload. This mode is set to receive an exciting addition on Tuesday with a new map themed around Chapter 2, named Slurp Rush.
This mini-island will include eight recognizable locations drawn directly from the Chapter 2 battle royale island, alongside some creatively inspired locations. Slurpy Swamp takes center stage on this map, presenting a distinct change from the urban settings of Tilted Towers and Paradise Palms which dominate the other Reload maps. The expansive swamp design suggests an abundance of healing slurp scattered throughout the area.
In Reload mode, players automatically respawn unless their team faces a complete wipe, or in solo play, they exhaust all their lives. The gameplay occurs on smaller islands compared to the standard battle royale environment, with a participant cap of 40 players. Currently, maps in Reload rotate every 30 minutes. However, Slurp Rush will initially debut as the sole available map.
Reload was launched last summer and quickly gained popularity, taking inspiration from similar modes in other titles like Call of Duty Warzone’s Resurgence mode. Nearly a year later, it stands as Fortnite’s second most popular mode, attracting a significantly larger player base compared to the classic mode that was phased out in December.
