War is approaching, and he’s not facing it alone. The first teaser for Darksiders 4 brings back the protagonist, War, as he prepares to confront the forces of Heaven, Hell, and the Council, revisiting the captivating cliffhanger left by the original game released in 2010. This announcement was made during THQ Nordic’s recent online preview event, which confirmed that Darksiders 4 continues the story immediately following the first game, featuring War alongside his fellow Horsemen of the Apocalypse: Death, Fury, and Strife.
The franchise is set in a post-apocalyptic world embroiled in a war between Heaven and Hell. The original storyline featured War being blamed for prematurely triggering the apocalypse, leading him on a quest to uncover the true culprit. Subsequent installments switched protagonists, with Death and Fury taking the lead in Darksiders 2 and Darksiders 3, respectively, while Strife starred in the 2019 spin-off Darksiders Genesis.
In Darksiders 4, players can expect a return to the series’ signature third-person perspective with a focus on "cinematic" and "fast-paced" action. The game will allow up to four players to join forces as they embody the Four Horsemen in cooperative gameplay.
While no release date has been set for Darksiders 4, it will be available on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
