Fortinet Enhances Endpoint Security Platform with New AI Protections

Fortinet has introduced enhancements to its FortiEndpoint platform aimed at managing AI risks more effectively. The upgrades add visibility and control for AI applications, helping businesses govern AI usage, minimize data exposure, and streamline security operations.

The FortiEndpoint platform integrates various security features, including antivirus and endpoint detection, within Fortinet’s broader Security Fabric. This integration is designed to bolster threat detection and response capabilities while simplifying endpoint management and security policies.

With the latest release, organizations will gain improved visibility over AI applications and the ability to manage data loss protection (DLP). A new natural language-based AI agent will assist security teams by generating investigation summaries, identifying high-risk devices, and troubleshooting issues. According to Ankit Gupta, a product and marketing leader at Fortinet, centralized visibility into AI tools operating across endpoints enables security teams to monitor sanctioned and unsanctioned tools, detect shadow AI, and analyze user activity through unified dashboards.

Gupta emphasizes that organizations must govern AI instances they cannot see. As employees increasingly turn to various AI assistants, coding helpers, and browser-based AI services, security teams require clarity on which tools are in use, who is using them, and whether they align with corporate policies.

The FortiEndpoint platform’s DLP capabilities will automatically inspect sensitive data exchanged with AI applications, helping prevent data leaks involving personal information, intellectual property, or financial details. This integrated DLP feature allows organizations to adopt AI safely while ensuring data security and compliance standards are met, avoiding the need for additional management tools.

Moreover, the introduction of the FortiAI-Assist agent aims to make administration easier and enhance daily operations. This agent will offer contextual insights, policy recommendations, and risk guidance to improve governance and threat management efficiency.

The enhancements to FortiEndpoint will also include adaptive zero-trust capabilities, ensuring real-time context-based access decisions. By continuously assessing endpoint health, compliance, and risk, FortiEndpoint can adapt access to AI applications based on changing risks, thus enforcing robust policy and minimizing exposure to potential threats.

These new features in FortiEndpoint are slated for release in Q3 2026, offering customers a comprehensive solution to manage AI-related security risks alongside their existing endpoint security measures.
