PlayStation has officially revealed its upcoming wireless fight stick, named the FlexStrike, ahead of the annual EVO fighting game tournament. Set to launch in 2026, this new accessory is designed to work seamlessly with the PS5 and PC.
Initially referred to as “Project Defiant,” the FlexStrike was first teased during PlayStation’s June 2025 State of Play presentation, marking Sony’s entry into the realm of official fight sticks. The controller leverages the PlayStation Link wireless connection, enabling features such as the simultaneous use of a wireless PlayStation Pulse headset for lag-free audio. Additionally, it allows two FlexStrike units to connect to a single PS5 for local multiplayer gaming.
Featuring an eight-button layout and joystick that blends black and white, the design complements the aesthetic of the PS5 and its other peripherals. Sony promises a robust and ergonomic build, tailored for extended gaming sessions. The joystick will come with three interchangeable movement gates—square, circle, and octagon—requiring no tools for replacement, and includes a storage compartment for these gates and the USB adapter.
The FlexStrike’s primary inputs consist of mechanical switches that replicate the controls on the PS5’s DualSense controller, including the PS button, share button, PlayStation Link button, and others, ensuring a comprehensive gaming experience. Furthermore, it offers a Lever Mode Switch and a Lock Button, enhancing functionality during gameplay.
Although specific pricing, preorder dates, and the exact launch date have not yet been announced, attendees at EVO 2025 can view the FlexStrike in person. Sony is expected to disclose further details in the upcoming months, including pricing and preorder availability.
This announcement is particularly notable as it’s PlayStation’s first official fight stick, raising curiosity about how it will compare to third-party options already available for the PS5, such as PDP’s Victrix Pro FS. Additionally, the June State of Play showcased several other significant fighting game developments, including the introduction of Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, slated for release in 2026, and the upcoming Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection, scheduled to launch later in 2025.
