The first significant challenge in Unicorn Overlord is difficult to overcome without the correct team.

The initial significant confrontation of Unicorn Overlord concludes with a skirmish against the game’s principal villain. This can be somewhat heavy-handed unless you’re well-prepared. While the fighting in Unicorn Overlord happens automatically, this particular battle necessitates meticulous prep work, particularly in the formation of your team. Let’s delve into why Galerius is such a formidable opponent and how to counteract him effectively.
Galerius is level 10 during this battle, with just above 150 HP. There are two core reasons that render this boss fight extraordinarily challenging. Firstly, Galerius possesses an ability that promptly brings every member of the attacking squad down to 1 HP. While this move can’t be lethal, it does get implemented every time you face off against Galerius. Secondly, he exhibits exceptional resistance to physical offenses, restricting most attackers’ damage to 15 or less. Galerius’ armour also cancels the first couple of attacks he suffers. He’s stationed in a garrison accompanied by two other knights who, although relatively weak, revive each time the garrison achieves a heal. Here’s an introduction to the units required, coupled with strategies for overcoming Galerius.
The conclusion of “The Priestess, Abducted” mission presents the Galerius battle, post a variety of smaller combats and city capture. It’s crucial to have healing and revival items handy in case Galerius puts your warrior out of commission during the operation.
An essential unit for your squad comprises of a thief and a magic-user, such as a Witch or Shaman. The narrative introduces the thief before the fight, while you can find the magic-users on side missions. The Witch is obtainable in Cornia’s southwest swamps, specifically Lebouge Hamlet, and the Shaman near Fort Lonteria in the southeast.
Position the thief at the front, leveraging their Evade skill to dodge at least one strike. Their double attack counters Galerius’ ability to null two attacks. The backline is ideal for magic-users — more would be optimal — to evade being targeted. Acquiring a third magic-user is doable by hiring at a seized garrison on the overworld map.
For the second unit, the requirement isn’t stringent; you need potent attackers to take out the two extra knights when they get healed. All of your units would typically advance towards Galerius in the level, so adjust the unit structure based on the consequent result.
Once you reach Galerius, you need to send in one of your other units to take out the two additional knights, since the thief can only dodge a limited number of attacks. Once those two are knocked out, you can sub in your thief-led unit to fight. They will technically “lose” the first fight, since the amount of health lost when your fighters are reduced to zero will be higher than your damage output.
If another unit initiates combat with Galerius, your thief unit can be swapped in. Just continue fighting Galerius, it might take three or four attempts depending on the level of your magic users. If you see the other two knights get revived, swap to a different unit. Once your thief unit is at 1 HP, just verify that you won’t be taking any damage before starting the next round of fighting. If they are listed as taking damage, send someone else in.
