There are certainly a few mysterious happenings in Dragon’s Dogma 2. One of these tasks involves a rumored ghostly vehicle that only appears at night. Here’s our guide on how to complete Phantom Oxcart in Dragon’s Dogma 2.
The Phantom Oxcart quest comes from the Oxcart drivers in Vernworth. Basically, as you’re tackling main quest objectives in the capital, you might overhear them talking about a spectral transport that only appears at night. This sounds quite eerie, given that Oxcarts are one of your main fast travel methods, and drivers only start traversing the roads during the day.
Nevertheless, the task of investigation falls to you. Proceed to updating the quest and while away time at a local inn or on a bench until dusk falls. After which, make your way to the designated location.
As you find yourself in the outlined area just up north of Vernworth, the true meaning behind the cryptic Dragon’s Dogma 2 Phantom Oxcart becomes all too clear. It’s a means of transport deeply involved in the immoral trade of pawns.
A soldier marred by corruption, Navil, attempts to evade the situation by fleeing. Undertake the task to relentlessly pursue him. When you eventually catch him, he confesses to his wrongdoings and offers you the Merchant’s Document. A choice lies in front of you – either let him be, accepting gold as compensation, or turn him into the judicial authorities.
No matter what path you choose, make your return to Brant, who can be found at the local tavern, and deliver the Merchant’s Document to him. Brant proposes a deeper delve into the Phantom Oxcart mystery. Thus, you now stand at a crossroads, where two options avail:
We can’t ascertain the method to set off the initial option, seeing that the vehicle doesn’t move even when it doesn’t detect us. For this reason, we chose to board it instead.
Would you like to know how to assimilate as a game piece? The procedure is quite simple: remove all your protagonist’s arms and protective gear–rings aren’t relevant. If your protagonist is wearing just their undergarments, the wagon leader will guide you to the rear to join the other game pieces. This even garners you the “Are We There Yet?” accolade.
This Ghost Carriage then starts its course along the road when nightfalls. The driver would remark about the game pieces and his strong dislike for them. A few significant events will unfold and there are some prerequisites to take note of:
In the end, the Ghost Carriage approaches Bakbattahl’s southern checkpoint. The moment all the game pieces are instructed to genuflect, the watchmen discern your undercover status. They turn antagonistic, which means it’s time to rearm and protect yourself again.
Here’s what you need to know about this encounter:
Once your foes have been beaten, you can return to Vernworth. Report your findings to Commander Brant and give him the Labor Requisition Orders. This completes the Dragon’s Dogma 2 Phantom Oxcart quest. You’ll receive 4,000 XP, 14,500 gold, and a Ring of Momentum (i.e. moderate boost to maximum stamina) for your efforts.
