Diablo 4’s Vessel of Hatred expansion, which was set to launch at 4 PM PT / 7 PM ET, has encountered a short delay.

According to a message posted on the Blizzard forums, Diablo community manager Adam Fletcher explained that the delay was due to a “small technical issue” that required attention to ensure players could begin at the same time across all platforms. Fletcher expressed hope that the Diablo 4 servers will be operational again later today.

“We apologize for the late-breaking news regarding the time shift, but this is a crucial step we need to take to ensure that every player can embark on their journey through Nahantu simultaneously,” Fletcher stated.

When asked for clarification on the duration of the delay, Fletcher responded in a post on X, expressing hope that the delay would last “just a couple of hours at most, but we shall see.”

Blizzard is set to start restricting new logins to Diablo 4 from 4 PM PT / 7 PM ET. Players who are already logged in before this time may experience disconnections as the developers make preparations for the expansion launch.

The upcoming Vessel of Hatred will bring several new features to Diablo 4, such as a new story campaign focused on Mephisto, Runewords drawn from Diablo 2, the reintroduction of recruitable Mercenaries, and a brand new class, the Spiritborn. In addition, Update 2.0 will be launched alongside Vessel of Hatred, providing a significant overhaul to Diablo 4’s difficulty system, making it resemble Diablo 3.

In GameSpot’s review of Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred, reviewer Alessandro Barbosa described the first expansion for Blizzard’s successful ARPG as “a fantastic reentry point for returning Diablo 4 players,” revitalizing the entire gaming experience.
