Extreme Networks has unveiled its new AI-driven Platform ONE, aiming to streamline the management of enterprise networking and security systems. This cloud-based solution integrates various elements of network management, including wireless, wired, and security products, alongside analytics and capabilities drawn from partners like Intel, Microsoft, and ServiceNow. The core of this platform includes the Cloud IQ network management package, Universal switches, and components from Extreme’s Network Fabric.
According to Nabil Bukhari, Chief Product and Technology Officer at Extreme, the platform’s customizable dashboard enhances visibility and operational efficiency by unifying data from multiple sources, allowing enterprises to quickly identify and troubleshoot issues.
Bukhari highlighted that the lines between networking and security have blurred, necessitating a cohesive approach to information management that accommodates different teams within an organization. With so many stakeholders relying on this data, complexity tends to increase, making an integrated platform essential for effective management.
AI capabilities are embedded throughout Platform ONE, supporting a range of tasks from network monitoring to security operations. Leveraging natural language processing, customers can utilize the AI Expert tool to query specific network issues. For instance, asking for "all network anomalies" will return relevant charts and analytics to address potential problems.
Notably, the Platform ONE management structure has undergone significant redesign, allowing for real-time insights into network traffic and improved visibility of third-party devices. Integrations with partners like Intel and Microsoft facilitate easier correlation between networking and security data, enabling prompt detection and remediation of security threats autonomously.
The rollout of Platform ONE reflects a broader industry shift towards platform-based approaches in enterprise network management. Research by IDC indicates a growing preference for integrated technology stacks over fragmented solutions, with many organizations seeking the efficiencies that a unified platform can offer.
Simplified licensing is another crucial feature of Platform ONE, designed to meet varied customer needs. It features two subscription tiers focused on networking and security, with both tiers offering essential AI functionalities.
Extreme’s Platform ONE is expected to be widely available in the latter half of 2025.
