Lenovo has launched a new suite of products under its Hybrid AI Advantage line, which includes hardware, software, and services specifically tailored for artificial intelligence workloads. Key among these products is the ThinkSystem SR680a V4, a compute appliance designed to deliver performance that exceeds Lenovo’s previous offerings, purportedly running inference workloads up to 11 times faster.
The SR680a V4 is equipped with a combination of components, including eight Nvidia Blackwell B200 AI accelerators and six Intel Xeon 6 CPUs, which can support up to 288 Efficient cores. This configuration is interconnected by eight Nvidia BlueField-3 DPU SuperNICs, enhancing the speed and efficiency of data transfer between CPUs and GPUs.
In addition to the SR680a V4, Lenovo is introducing two further systems based on the existing ThinkSystem SR675 server lineup. One of these configurations integrates SR675 V3 servers with Cisco’s Nexus series switches, allowing for the incorporation of up to eight Nvidia RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell Server Edition graphics cards, tailored for a variety of tasks beyond just AI. The other system is specially optimized for IBM’s watsonx software suite, a tool for developing AI models and managing data.
Moreover, Lenovo is rolling out four bundled offerings that combine its hardware with third-party AI software. These are:
- Hospitality Solutions: In partnership with Centific AI Data Foundry and Nvidia, this bundle aims to enhance personalization and operational efficiency in hotels.
- Workplace Safety: Collaborating with Avathon Visual AI and Nvidia, this initiative focuses on real-time monitoring of safety compliance and hazard detection.
- Retail and Smart Spaces: In collaboration with WaitTime and Intel, this bundle seeks to deliver crowd analytics using Edge AI-based computer vision to improve revenue and customer experience.
- Quality Inspection: Partnering with Trifork and Nvidia, this offering automates defect detection and model retraining on the factory floor.
Lenovo’s Global CIO Playbook indicates that AI investments are projected to increase significantly, with AI budgets climbing to nearly 20% of IT expenditures by 2025. However, many organizations have reported limited returns on their AI investments. In response, Lenovo is introducing AI Adoption and Change Management Services to help companies gauge their readiness for AI, improve workforce skills, and optimize returns on technology investments.
Ken Wong, Lenovo’s executive vice president, emphasized that a strategic approach is vital for AI adoption, noting that the Hybrid AI Advantage aims to convert AI potential into tangible performance improvements across all organizational levels.
