Teasing the Biggest Transformation Yet in Rainbow Six Siege: What to Expect!

Ubisoft has teased an exciting new chapter for Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege. During the Six Invitational championship weekend, the company announced a Siege X Showcase set for March 13 in Atlanta, Georgia, where details about the game’s "biggest transformation" yet will be revealed. This transformation will include significant graphical and audio improvements, along with "deepened tactical gameplay." While specifics remain unclear, the announcement hints at new ways to play, possibly introducing fresh game modes.

A new operator named Rauora, who is an attacker from New Zealand, will also be joining the team. Players can expect to have access to Rauora with the start of Year 10 Season 1. As part of the Operation Prep Phase battle pass, she will be unlockable after two weeks using Renown or R6 credits. Rauora’s arsenal includes a choice between the 417 marksman rifle and the M249 light machine gun as her primary weapons, and the GSH-18 9mm pistol or the new Reaper MK2 machine pistol as her secondary. The Reaper MK2 comes equipped with a red dot sight and an extended magazine, enhancing her combat capabilities.

Rauora’s unique gadget, the Deployable Omnilink Mesh Launcher (DOM), acts as a bulletproof barrier that can only be deployed in doorways. It features smart technology that recognizes nearby ally drones and allows them to pass through. The barrier can be manipulated by all operators; however, attackers receive more advantages, such as the ability to trigger the barrier to open faster or briefly locking defenders out.

While Rauora’s barriers are resistant to bullets, they remain vulnerable to explosive attacks. Additionally, they are ineffective against Castle’s reinforced barricades and can be eliminated by Jäger’s ADS gadget before deployment.

Since its release in 2015, Rainbow Six Siege has undergone extensive updates, including the recent introduction of full cross-play and enhanced anti-cheat measures. Despite circulating rumors about a potential sequel, the game’s creative director expressed confidence in the longevity of Siege, suggesting it could "last forever" due to ongoing support and content updates. Ubisoft is also focusing on expanding its offerings in the open-world and live-service game genre.
