Motorola recently unveiled its new Razr lineup of folding smartphones, which includes the Razr, Razr+, and the flagship Razr Ultra. The launch event, held in New York City, emphasized the integration of advanced artificial intelligence features, leveraging various large language models including Google’s Gemini and Perplexity AI, both of which will come preinstalled on the devices.
The pricing for the 2025 Razr lineup starts at $700 for the base Razr model, $1,000 for the Razr+, and $1,300 for the Razr Ultra. The midrange Razr+ offers enhancements to durability compared to the previous model. Motorola also showcased accompanying products, such as the new Moto Buds Loop earbuds, featuring sound technology from Bose and Swarovski crystal embellishments, and the Moto Watch Fit, a basic fitness tracker compatible with Android phones.
Key Features of the 2025 Razr Family
A standout feature of the new Razrs is the improved build quality, with a new titanium-reinforced hinge that significantly enhances durability—making the devices four times stronger than earlier models and able to withstand more folds. Additionally, improved glass technology minimizes the crease at the fold and provides better dust and water resistance.
The Razr Ultra differs with its use of Corning’s Gorilla Glass Ceramic, offering enhanced drop performance. Motorola’s efforts to appeal to a wider audience are also reflected in the colorful palettes and textured finishes of the devices, with options such as wood, Alcantara, satin, and leather-inspired designs.
Around 25 percent of Razr customers are reported to be switching from iOS, indicating a potential challenge for Apple as they consider their approach to folding devices.
