Don’t Miss Out: Fun Game Leaving Steam Soon for Under $1!

A parkour game, Supermoves: World of Parkour, is set to be delisted from Steam on June 30, offering players a last chance to purchase it at a low price of $0.79 before its removal. Despite its engaging gameplay, which drew inspiration from titles like Mirror’s Edge, the game struggled commercially, leading to the closure of its developer, Makea Games, back in April.

Tomi Toikka, the founder and former CEO of Makea Games, expressed disappointment over losing the game’s IP and his inability to keep it available for players. In a heartfelt update, Toikka shared his efforts to find a way to preserve the game for fans but ultimately faced insurmountable challenges due to the company’s financial situation.

As part of the delisting process, all multiplayer features of Supermoves will be disabled, limiting the game to a single-player experience, which will continue to function, albeit with a significant portion of gameplay rendered unavailable. Toikka reflected on the importance of digital preservation and the broader implications of losing creative works when companies fold, saying, "If you care about digital preservation, independent development, or public R&D policy, I hope the fate of Supermoves sparks a wider conversation about how we keep creative work alive."

For those interested, the game can be purchased until its removal on June 30, with a deluxe edition available for $2.43, which includes additional cosmetics and a soundtrack. The closing of this title not only marks the end of an ambitious project but also serves as a poignant reminder of the fragility of video game preservation.
