Gear News of the Week: New AI Browser Launches and Fujifilm Unveils the X-T30 III

What are the odds that two AI browsers launch in one week? OpenAI announced Atlas, a ChatGPT-powered Chromium browser, while a small startup called Nimo debuted Nimo Infinity, an innovative canvas-style AI browser. Nimo, initially focused on smart glasses, has pivoted to this new software product, which is currently in beta and available for macOS with plans for a Windows app in the future.

Nimo Infinity transforms your desktop into an AI workspace, allowing users to connect their favorite applications. Rather than using traditional interfaces, the AI assistant generates “Dynamic Apps,” which can consolidate various data streams, such as merging Google Calendar events with relevant Gmail messages for meeting prep. Although currently in beta, the app has a steep learning curve, reflected in my experience where it struggled to create a custom app after 30 minutes.

Nimo Infinity offers a limited free version, with core features available for a monthly fee of $20. The app joins a growing trend of companies trying to reinvent how we interact with software through AI.

In other tech news, Aura announced the Aura Ink, a wireless digital photo frame that features a long-lasting e-paper display. Unlike its LCD counterparts, this device aims for aesthetic integration on walls with a battery life of up to three months. Meanwhile, Bamford has unveiled the Mayfair 2.0, a modular watch that boasts customizable outer cases—allowing users to change both the look and feel depending on their mood.

Both Wyze and TP-Link introduced solar-powered outdoor security cameras this past week. Wyze’s affordable Solar Cam Pan offers AI tracking and cloud video storage via a subscription model. TP-Link’s Tapo C615F combines a similar 2K camera with an adjustable floodlight, both cameras utilizing solar power to minimize maintenance.

Fujifilm is also making waves with its latest release, the X-T30 III, which updates their entry-level mirrorless cameras with significant performance enhancements. Equipped with a 26-MP sensor and capable of shooting 6.2K video, this new model promises more features and better image quality.

Lastly, Intel will be launching "AI Experience Stores" in five cities, designed to provide an immersive retail experience focused on AI technology, coinciding with a significant marketing push from Microsoft for its Windows 11 AI functionalities.
