F5 Unveils Enhanced Visibility and AI Controls for Big-IP and NGINX Solutions

F5 has launched new visibility and AI controls aimed at enhancing security and managing modern application traffic. These updates were announced at the AppWorld conference in Las Vegas and are part of F5’s efforts to streamline application delivery across distributed environments.

The F5 Application Delivery and Security Platform (ADSP) has introduced several updates, including a new observability product called F5 Insight, which utilizes AI for enhanced security features. F5 Insight originated from a project developed by field engineers addressing visibility challenges faced by customers, gaining considerable traction with over 400 users testing and providing feedback on it.

Additionally, F5 has updated its Big-IP application delivery controller with version 21.1, featuring advancements in control plane scalability and post-quantum cryptography. The company aims to facilitate automated workflows for customers while ensuring the platform can scale accordingly.

F5 is also implementing AI-powered risk scoring in its Distributed Cloud WAF service, allowing for quicker anomaly detection with lower manual configuration. This reduces the burden of managing numerous individual WAF rules and mitigates alert fatigue among security operations teams.

Furthermore, the introduction of AI Remediate seeks to automate the creation of security guardrails based on findings from F5’s Red Team. This integration highlights F5’s ongoing commitment to advancing their security capabilities.

F5’s NGINX platform is also set for improvements, particularly for Kubernetes environments. With a new Gateway controller approach, F5 is replacing the outdated Ingress-NGINX controller, thus extending automation tools to assist customers in migrating configurations easily while maintaining robust security measures.

Overall, F5’s updates are characterized by a focus on enabling secure, scalable production deployments of AI, responding to the increasing demands for advanced security and operational efficiency in application management.
