Nate Fox, the director behind the beloved Infamous series from Sucker Punch, has expressed his desire to return to this iconic franchise. Since the release of Infamous: Second Son in 2014, fans have been waiting for a new entry or a revival of the original titles. However, due to his current commitments to the development of Ghost of Yotei, the sequel to Ghost of Tsushima, Fox’s plans for Infamous are on hold.
In an interview with Game Informer, Fox shared, "I would love to work on more Infamous. I would love to see a trilogy rerelease, but Sucker Punch is a one game at a time shop, and right now we are very focused on finishing Ghost of Yotei."
While the first two Infamous games remain stuck on the PS3, only Second Son is available on PS4—showing a clear need for potential remasters. In a blog post from 2022, Sucker Punch reaffirmed its lack of plans to revisit either Infamous or Sly Cooper, another fan-favorite franchise. Despite this, there have been subtle hints within Ghost of Tsushima, which included Easter eggs referencing both series.
In terms of the franchise’s future, Sony has maintained a positive outlook. In 2015, PlayStation’s Scott Rohde asserted that they would "never retire an IP" and were always open to creating more games in the Infamous series. However, nearly a decade after that statement, the most recent nod to Infamous appeared in the Easter eggs of Astro Bot in 2024, leaving fans eagerly waiting for any sign of a revival.
