Marvel Snap has recently become unavailable in the U.S. app stores, coinciding with a ban on TikTok that took effect on January 19, 2025. The game’s publisher, Nuverse, was previously owned by TikTok’s parent, Bytedance, which has raised questions regarding the timing of the game’s removal.
Despite TikTok being restored within a day of the ban, Marvel Snap has yet to return to the app stores, leaving many users unable to access or play the game even if it was already installed. The developer, Second Dinner, communicated to users that this outage was unexpected and they are actively working to resolve the situation.
The lifting of the TikTok ban by the U.S. Supreme Court had raised concerns regarding the fate of apps associated with Bytedance. Interestingly, Bytedance divested from Nuverse in 2023, adding further ambiguity to the current status of Marvel Snap. As of now, there is no clear timeline for when players might regain access to the game.
Marvel Snap has seen substantial success since its launch, generating around $2 million in revenue in its first week. Reviews have praised its innovative approach to digital collectible card games, highlighting it as a mix of simplicity and strategy.
