Cologix and Crosslake Fibre Boost Partnership with New PoP in Montreal

North American supplier of hyperscale edge data center services and network-neutral connectivity, Cologix, has expanded its alliance with global Network Service supplier (NSP) and long-haul fiber route developer Crosslake Fibre. As a result of growing client demand for Crosslake’s services, the most recent development is the opening of a new Point of Presence (PoP) at Cologix’s MTL3 digital edge data center in Montréal, Canada.

This move expands on Crosslake Fibre’s current collaboration with Cologix in Toronto, Canada, where the business runs a special cross-lake underwater cable that links key financial and technological markets in Chicago, New York, and Toronto. With the establishment of the Montréal site, Crosslake’s global financial network Velocity and general network services are now more widely accessible, improving connection possibilities for Cologix clients and solidifying Crosslake’s position as a pioneer in global network services.

The significance of this development was underlined by Crosslake Fibre CEO Mike Cunningham, who said, “The establishment of a new Point of Presence at Cologix’s MTL3 data center is a strategic step forward in our partnership. It helps us to reach a wider audience by giving our reliable, high-performing network access to both current and potential customers. Our extensive undersea and terrestrial fiber infrastructure is expected to improve network resilience and global connectivity.”

With 350 networks, more than 200 cloud providers, 15 public cloud onramps, and three internet exchanges, Cologix would boast an expansive Canadian interconnection ecosystem. Presently, Cologix claims to offer 75% of all public cloud onramps in Canada, such as Oracle FastConnect, IBM Cloud, Microsoft Azure ExpressRoute, AWS Direct Connect, and Google Cloud Interconnect.

The strategic significance of the expansion was also touched on by Sean Maskell, President and General Manager of Cologix Canada. He stated, “We consistently recognize an increased demand within our network for improved connectivity services, particularly for enterprises utilizing AI applications. This progress allows us to supply our users with scalable, secure, and uninterrupted capability, ensuring the fastest and most effective data paths across diverse geographical locations.”
