Kyndryl Strengthens Its Bridge Infrastructure Services: Full Report

Kyndryl aims to launch new AI, mainframe modernization, and security services in the near future as part of its plans to expand its Bridge infrastructure integration platform. Bridge stands as a mainstay in Kyndryl’s service offerings, featuring consultation, hybrid cloud, security, and application services.

Bridge unifies the tools for management, observability, and automation while employing AI and machine learning to scrutinize the collated data. This provides IT operations teams with the essential intelligence to maintain optimum system performance, as stated by Kyndryl CTO, Antoine Shagoury. He explained that by using Kyndryl Bridge, clients can minimize complexity and gain actionable insights for better understanding, prediction, and actions leading to improved business outcomes.

“Bridge has evolved to a stage where it can be viewed as a digital operating system that is customizable for each business. This aids in integrating our services, managing their data, and deriving insights or patterns necessary for efficient operations,” Shagoury noted.

“What sets it apart is how we’ve crafted or intertwined organizational info, systems, applications, and more. It allows for personalization and access to targeted knowledge and solution bases that enhance operating efficiencies,” Shagoury added.

Recent findings indicate a continuous trend of accomplishment for Kyndryl Bridge. “Kyndryl’s goal to streamline service provision through Kyndryl Bridge brought about $575 million in annualized savings, surpassing their increased target by $25 million,” asserts an IDC Link report authored by Jason Bremner, the research vice president of IDC Worldwide Services, which got released this week.

Over the past few years, the company has launched more than 190 new services through Kyndryl Bridge. Additionally, Kyndryl Bridge is offering customers with almost $2 billion in annual productivity gains because of avoiding major incidents and planned maintenance costs, says Bremner.

The number of clients utilizing the Kyndryl Bridge platform is over 1,200 now, which includes about 450 clients that were added during the previous quarter, states Bremner. “With the addition of 450 clients in the quarter, the scalability of Kyndryl Bridge becomes evident. As Kyndryl adds more clients and services to the platform, Kyndryl Bridge will take advantage of an enlarged operational dataset to provide more insights than the current monthly 3 million insights and afford clients more savings,” Bremner remarked.

Looking ahead, the company has several areas that it intends to develop with Bridge. AI services, helping customers to establish the infrastructure, reliable data base, and models essential to reap the benefits of AI, will be a significant part of this development, added Shagoury.

New offerings will comprise structures for machine learning transactions and Large Language Model (LLM) operations. Alongside is Kyndryl’s Data and AI Console that designs a comprehensive perspective of customer data for enhanced enlightenment and AI facilitation, as the corporation has declared.

“Our focus is on AI services that will be highly customized to individual client businesses, their contextual semantics, and the ways in which our clients can scrutinize our operational environments as services. Consequently, they can explore or implement solutions that enable them to enhance the services we deliver,” commented Shagoury.

The targeted field is also AI networking by Kyndryl.

“AI networking is still in its initialization phase, however, we have been involved in several consulting engagements about it,” remarked Shagoury. “Our main effort in our consulting business is assisting our clients in comprehending how to structure and deploy it. Thus, we will do intensive work on designing the operating environments, the computation, or the storage or the GPU as-a-service models to begin to examine and experiment with the operating capabilities. This will help them to identify how to shift their operational workloads into those environments effectively,” added Shagoury.

Shagoury mentioned that anticipating a massive breakthrough in the coming years is plausible if we all continue to keep track of how to maximize the location of our workload, maintaining our ability to sustain the software-defined capability for AI networking.

Mainframe modernization offerings from Kyndryl are set to be massively influenced by AI. The company’s modernization methodologies for mainframes are comprehensive, giving users the power to either keep data on their mainframes, migrate it elsewhere, or even establish a mixture of the two.

Collaborations with numerous cloud service providers are integral to Kyndryl’s mainframe modernization services. In November, they joined forces with Amazon Web Services to create services that assist companies with either integrating or moving mainframe applications and data to the AWS cloud.

The partnership expounds as Kyndryl integrates its products with the AWS Mainframe Modernization service. The service from AWS includes tools, infrastructure, and software that handle the transition of mainframe applications to the cloud. This AWS provision comprises a runtime environment that’s managed and supplies compute, memory, and storage to run refactored or reshaped mainframe applications. It takes care of the detailed aspects of capacity provisioning, security, load balancing, scaling, and the monitoring of application health to ensure seamless functionality.

Kyndryl is set to construct the new generation of AI-built mainframe managed service delivery. This development encapsulates Kyndryl Bridge’s orchestration of mainframe delivery operations. A harmonious blend of the AI technologies and Kyndryl’s mainframe dexterity will aid companies in the modernization of their mainframe tasks. This will also help in integrating these with the cloud or transferring them to a hybrid cloud.

From the perspective of mainframe clients, measures regarding software distribution and workload management will be analyzed. This is in line with their comprehensive business incorporation as stated by Shagoury. He also highlighted the exponential AI tool growth amidst many mainframe partners, including IBM — Kyndryl’s parent company. This is particularly towards enhancing code optimizations and migrations with the target of establishing expanded cloud capability, or being cloud-native.

Kyndryl expressed intentions to persist partnering with significant entities in the provision of an array of security services. Present partners to note include Cisco, Microsoft, Fortinet, and Nokia.

Most recently, Kyndryl made an agreement to assimilate Palo Alto’s security services and products into its managed security services. These consist of security monitoring, incident response, and threat intelligence. Palo Alto’s comprehensive security suite includes a variety of offerings. These are next-generation firewalls, the Prisma Cloud security platform catering to cloud applications and workloads, endpoint security, and automated operation support.

Kyndryl Bridge in the forthcoming months is set to amalgamate and present data from IT system operations. This will enable detailed analysis to monitor the supply chain of customer’s hardware, software, and other external suppliers and subcontractors in order to meet local regulatory requirements as stated by the company. “Additional functionalities will be introduced in the subsequent quarters to accommodate organizations in adapting to regulatory changes”, added the vendor.

The reach of Kyndryl is also being amplified through other alliances.

“In recent times, Kyndryl has introduced or extended alliances with Google Cloud on generative AI (GenAI), Hewlett Packard Enterprise on personal 5G networking, Veeam on cyber-resilience and data security, and Cloudflare on cloud connectivity and network security”, commented IDC’s Bremner. “These alliances enhance Kyndryl’s capacity in its applications, data & AI, security & resilience, networking & edge, and cloud service practices.”
