Netskope has announced the enhancement of its data protection features by incorporating data security posture management (DSPM) technology into its Netskope One Platform through the acquisition of Dasera. This integration aims to provide comprehensive security across various scenarios including web, SaaS, PaaS, IaaS, email, endpoint, and on-premises environments, focusing on structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data stores and data lakes, as mentioned by Netskope.
Founded in 2019, Dasera developed a solution dedicated to discovering and evaluating data within structured and semi-structured datasets hosted on hyperscaler platforms like AWS and Azure, as well as in platform-as-a-service environments such as Databricks and Snowflake, and within traditional on-premises data storage.
“Modern data security strategies for enterprises must comprehensively understand and manage where their data resides, the nature of this data, its origin, the status of the data storage, usage of sensitive information, access permissions, and the measures needed to enforce real-time and detailed data policies,” stated Sanjay Beri, CEO and co-founder of Netskope, in a statement. “Our ongoing objective has been to facilitate this modern data security approach by delivering extensive and deep data protection via a unified, comprehensive platform known as Netskope One. In my recent discussions with security leaders globally, it is evident that there is enthusiasm regarding the integration of DSPM capabilities into the Netskope One platform.”
The capabilities offered by DSPM can assist organizations in safeguarding their data against unauthorized access, loss, or mismanagement by pinpointing sensitive information across various cloud settings and evaluating the risks associated with potential security threats and regulatory non-compliance. Last year, Netskope previously improved its digital experience monitoring features when it acquired Kadiska and integrated DEM into its SASE platform.
“Our clients regard their data as one of their most valuable assets. As their businesses evolve, it is crucial for them to track where their data resides, identify what it contains, understand who accesses it and why, and ultimately ensure that it is safeguarded and appropriately managed. DSPM encompasses various use cases for data protection, and our clients have expressed a clear preference for not needing to invest in a separate solution solely for these purposes,” explains Robert Arandjelovic, senior director of product and solutions strategy at Netskope.
The Netskope DSPM module is now available as part of the Netskope One platform.
