After a recent leak, Konami confirmed during the February State of Play event that Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater will launch on August 28. This highly anticipated remake of the 2004 classic, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, was presented with a new trailer that highlighted key moments from the original game.
The remake introduces several new features, including an option for a third-person perspective in addition to the classic top-down view. Players can now swiftly adjust their camouflage using a quick-select button, enhancing stealth capabilities during intense gameplay scenarios. Familiar Easter eggs have been preserved, along with new hidden elements known as GA-KO, which are cleverly designed to blend into the game’s environment.
In an exciting crossover element, the game includes a special mode called Snake vs. Monkey, where Snake is tasked with capturing the mischievous Pipo Monkeys from the Ape Escape series. For players on Xbox, the trailer showcases Bomberman instead. Additional information about this mode is expected to be revealed in the future. It’s also confirmed that the game will support PS5 Pro.
Pre-orders for Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater offer players a White Tuxedo outfit for Snake, and a Digital Deluxe Edition will feature a Sneaking DLC Pack along with early access to the game.
Since its initial reveal at the May 2023 PlayStation Showcase, details about the remake had been limited. However, it has been confirmed that the game will also be available for PC and Xbox Series X|S consoles, and it will utilize the original voice recordings, featuring contributions from Jodi Benson, known for voicing Ariel in Disney’s The Little Mermaid.
Konami is actively expanding its portfolio, including the recently announced Metal Gear Solid Master Collection, with a second volume currently in development but without a set release date. The publisher has clarified that a remake of the original Metal Gear Solid is not on the horizon at this time.
