Space Marine 2 Developer Addresses Player Concerns: No Live-Service Model Planned

After facing backlash from its community, Focus Entertainment has confirmed that Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 will not transform into a live-service game. The announcement follows concerns from fans about certain community events that were perceived as a way to lock exclusive cosmetic items behind a time-limited format, leading to a sense of FOMO (fear of missing out).

In a recent community update, Focus stated, "We have noted that the Community Events have received cold feedback since we introduced them as an additional way to unlock cosmetic items… Rest assured, we are not looking to transform Space Marine 2 into a full live-service game. The items available through events WILL be available later, for everyone." The developers emphasized their goal of making the events a way for dedicated players to unlock items early, rather than causing frustration.

Additionally, to address player concerns, Focus announced that the emblem-less Mk VIII Errant Helmet would now be freely available for all players who link their PROS account to Space Marine 2. This decision comes after the helmet was initially meant to be a reward for completing specific challenges before a community event concluded.

Focus Entertainment has also shared plans for future updates to Space Marine 2 throughout 2025, hinting at substantial improvements. The company appears to be responsive to community feedback, aiming to enhance the overall gaming experience while maintaining a focus on player satisfaction.
