Truth Social experienced major outages on Saturday evening shortly after Donald Trump announced a US military strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities.
The issues began around 8 PM ET, displaying messages such as “Network failed. Please try again.” Trump made the announcement at 7:46 PM ET, revealing that the US had conducted a “very successful attack” on three nuclear sites in Iran, namely Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan. A follow-up post indicated that all planes were safely returning home after dropping a full payload on the Fordow site and congratulated American forces for their actions.
Reports of outages on Truth Social surged around the same time, as noted by DownDetector, which tracks service disruptions. The cause of the outages wasn’t immediately clear, but NetBlocks, an organization that monitors internet accessibility, confirmed the global outage was unrelated to any disruption within Iran itself.
Despite the platform’s downtime, officials from both the US and Iran confirmed that the airstrikes had taken place, with particular focus on facilities in Fordow and Natanz. Tensions have been escalating, as Israel had initiated airstrikes on certain Iranian targets a week earlier.
In the lead-up to the military action, Truth Social had sent emails to users, urging them to follow Trump’s account for updates on international affairs. A televised address from Trump was scheduled for later that evening.
