The recent update to Destiny 2, specifically Act II of Episode Heresy, has introduced an engaging new activity called the Court of Blades. This mode presents a boss-rush challenge, reminiscent of the prior Court of Oryx from Destiny: The Taken King, allowing players to earn a variety of valuable loot.
Overview of the Court of Blades
The Court of Blades functions as an enemy gauntlet, where players will confront a sequence of escalating enemies within a 10-minute timeframe. Each phase features two bosses—one smaller and one larger. Upon entering the activity, each player selects an Augmentation from one of two statues. These augmentations introduce specific objectives that must be fulfilled during the battle, and multiple conditions can be faced simultaneously.
Some example objectives include:
- Banish: Find and defeat three Taken Wizards quickly or be teleported away to fight a miniboss.
- Sharpen: Contend with an invincible Knight while dismantling its shield using swords dropped by smaller knights.
As players progress, they will need to defeat these bosses and fulfill the conditions presented by their Augmentations.
Using Armaments
After each phase, players are transported back to the central courtroom to prepare for subsequent battles. They can replenish their ammo and utilize Runes obtained from previous enemies to activate Armaments at the six statues in the hallway. These Armaments come in tiers from one to three, providing progressively stronger effects like enhanced melee damage and healing capabilities. Players can choose at least one Armament to implement during each intermission phase.
Earning Bonus Loot
At the end of the activity, players have the opportunity to bank Metastasized Essentia—accrued from the Nether activity—at a small obelisk located in the courtroom. Depositing these will unlock additional loot, such as weapons, armor, and resources to enhance gameplay, like Infusion Cores.
Furthermore, enhancements can be applied through the Mysterium section of the Shaping Slab, by inserting Runes to improve loot drops and earn more benefits from the Court of Blades. These include more weapon choices and increased drops of valuable items during the activity.
